Find me near the chestnut trees
On the 24th of February 2022 the impossible happened. russia started its full scale war on Ukraine. Ever since then I have been photographing the everyday life of my Ukrainian friends and saw how much strength everyday life can require.
How do you built new routines in all the uncertainties, reclaim a sense of normality in midst of all the madness, find moments of happiness despite all the horrors?
With the simultaneousness of everything, „How are you?“ has become an incredibly difficult question.
By now the war has lasted over three (fucking) long years. More uncertainty is being added by the current state of world politics. Weapons are running out and too many brave people are getting killed.
What does everyday life and normality look like when there is a war going on at the same time and absolutely nothing is normal? How do you keep going and find a balance between it all?
These images were taken during multiple visits since the full scale invasion started in Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnitsia and Kharkiv.
